The Right Running Shoe for You

112121 images  The warmer months are among us, temperatures and outdoor activities are increasing. When doing certain activities, it’s very important to make sure you have the right shoe for the job. From hiking in the woods to running on the street, there are specific shoes to help you complete these activities with less chance of injury. It’s pretty obvious if you’re going to be running you will need a running shoe, but every foot is unique, and there are different running shoes for different foot types. I want to share with a quick guide you can use when choosing your running shoes.

Know Your Foot. Knowing your foot type is important, and the first step into finding that perfect running shoe. Getting to know your foot is simple; just watch yourself as you walk. Look down at your feet, safely, and take notice to the way you walk. Do you strike with your heel, mid-foot, or toes first. Do your feet seem to pronate (lean inwards) or supinate (lean outwards). It’s also important to take notice to your arch type. Do they seem really high, medium, or flat? These are all important and basic things to look at when trying to get to know your feet. Once you know these things, finding the right shoe is a lot easier. To make it even easier, we do a complementary foot scan that show us your size, arch type, and where you put pressure on the feet.

Cushioned Running Shoes are great for those neutral Wmns Zoom Bluerunners. They are good for running outside on hard surfaces with the extra shock absorption they provide. This would be ideal for mild pronators and supinators. It’s also a great option for those high arched feet that have enough stability, and just need some extra cushion.

wmnsedgeraspStability Running Shoes are another good option for the neutral runner who tends to pronate or supinate more moderately. Often built with a firm post where to arch is to help support the foot, but still give it a little more flexibility. This is ideal for most medium arched feet that want the best of both worlds with a little of everything for the feet.

wmnsrxgreyMotion Control Running Shoes are the best for people who severely pronate or supinate. Designed with a stiffer heel, and usually built on a straighter last to help prevent pronation and supination. This type of runner is great for flat feet that over pronate due to a lot of flexibility in their own foot.

Choosing the running shoe for your foot type can be difficult because most of us aren’t really sure what our foot type is exactly. At The Right Shoe, we help you determine your size, arch type, and areas of pressure. With this we can help you find a running shoe that will benefit you and your unique foot.
